Ranch Life

NOTE: Airs April 5, at 7:30 p.m. on Wyoming PBS. Also, the program will be available online here.

Producers Richard Ager and Stefani Smith return to the subject of agriculture in Wyoming. Season 4 of Wyoming Chronicle launched back in September 2012 with an exploration of the drought and how it has affected the lives of ranchers and farmers in the region. Now, as winter drifts into spring, Stefani Smith catches up with JW and Jared Hendry, brothers and 4th generation owners of Clear Creek Cattle Company near Lysite. The brothers take Smith on a tour of their 100 year old family operation and the life they’ve not only inherited, but claimed as their own.

Executive Producer Richard Ager follows this ranch tour with a round table discussion on the succession of the ranching way of life, and the challenges ranchers face. Guests include JW Hendry of Clear Creek Cattle Company; Mike Evans of E-Bar-Diamond Ranch, who left the forestry service with his wife decades ago to make a life in ranching “from scratch”; and Scott Keith with the Agribusiness Division of the Wyoming Business Council, an advocate for ranching and manager of the WAGON Project.
